FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you require an appointment?

Walk ins are welcome Tuesday - Friday, but appointments have priority. Bridal appointments are required on Saturday and Sunday.

How many people can I bring to my appointment?

Our viewing rooms comfortably seat 5-6 guests. We will accommodate any party size, but just be aware it could potentially be close seating arrangements!

Do you have private bridal suites?

We do! Each appointment takes place in a private suite so you and your party can enjoy the experience without any interruptions.

Where should I park for my appointment?

There is a free parking lot to the left of our building or take advantage of free street parking on weekends. If you're unfamiliar with the area, we recommend arriving a few minutes early to allow extra time for parking and finding your way.

Do you offer dress preservation?

Yes! We offer full cleaning and preservation of your wedding gown, in a process that couldn’t be easier. You do not have to be a Haus of Ivory bride to use this service. We accept wedding gowns that are purchased anywhere. Call us at 712-577-6105 for more information. See more information here.

When should I start searching for my wedding gown?

We recommend starting your dress shopping at least 6 to 12 months before your wedding day. Ordering early gives you plenty of time for shipping and alterations.

What sizes do your gowns come in?

We have gowns to try on from sizes 6 to 26 with a majority sampled in sizes 10-16.

What if the sample gown I like is not in my size?

Whether the gown is too big or too small, we have tricks and tools to show you how that gown would look in your correct size.

Will I need alterations?

Most likely! Nearly all brides need alterations since our gowns are special order, not custom. A special order (or made-to-order) gown starts from a designer’s existing style and standard size. We take your measurements and order the size that best matches your measurements according to the designer’s size chart. Once your gown arrives, we can arrange in-house alterations.

What is the time frame for special order gown arrivals?

Special order gowns typically take 4 to 8 months to arrive from the time the order is placed, depending on the designer and the time of year. We recommend ordering early to ensure your dress arrives with plenty of time for alterations and fittings.

What is your price range?

Our special order gowns range from $1,200-$4,000 before tax and alterations. Most of our gowns fall between $1,500-$2,200.

What are the tax rates at your location?

Iowa has a sales tax of 6%. All payments using a credit card will incur a 3.95% processing fee, bypass this fee using a debit card, cash, or check.

Do you offer payment plans?

At this time, we do not offer a formal payment plan system. However, you are welcome to either pay in full or place a 50% deposit plus shipping costs, with the remaining balance due at pick-up. We are willing to discuss flexible payment options depending on circumstances, though this is determined on a case-by-case basis. Note that dresses will not be ordered until 50% of the gown cost has been received.

What is your return policy?

We have a strict NO RETURN policy. Gowns, veils and accessories are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. Purchased items have been sold in ‘AS IS CONDITION’. Any deposits made on a purchased item are non-refundable. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Do you sell wedding dress off of the rack/take home same day?

We offer a limited selection of off-the-rack gowns, including discontinued and sample styles. Our newer designer samples aren’t typically available for purchase off the rack.
